Home-Birth Midwifery Care in Mid-Michigan

At Goodness & Mercy Birth Services, we believe mothers benefit from knowledgeable, compassionate care throughout pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum season. We especially value the personal relationships and individualized attention that home-birth midwifery care can offer.

Members of our team are studying midwifery and gaining experience through supervised apprenticeships. We are not currently offering independent midwifery care, but we are grateful for the experienced home-birth midwives serving families in Greater Lansing and Mid-Michigan.

Home-Birth Midwives We Know and Recommend

We are compiling a list of local home-birth midwives with whom we have worked or have firsthand professional experience. Our hope is to help families make informed connections with providers who offer respectful, individualized care.

Our list of recommended home-birth midwives is coming soon.

As we add names, we will aim to provide each midwife’s practice information, service area, and how families can contact her. We encourage you to verify credentials and availability directly and to meet with any midwife you are considering.

Considering a Home Birth?

Choosing a midwife is about much more than finding someone with the right credentials. You’ll be inviting this woman into one of the most personal and important experiences of your life, so it’s worth taking time to get to know her.

We encourage you to meet with prospective midwives and learn about their philosophy of pregnancy and birth. How do they view the natural process of labor? How do they involve husbands and families? How do they approach informed decision-making, unexpected complications, and the need for medical intervention?

Just as importantly, pay attention to the relationship. Do you feel comfortable asking questions? Does she listen carefully and respect your concerns? Can you imagine trusting her and working together throughout pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum season?

A good midwife brings knowledge and experience, but she also brings patience, compassion, and a genuine commitment to caring for mothers and babies. Look for someone whose philosophy of care you respect and whose presence helps you feel confident, heard, and supported.
